InkHammy is made by MindCrafters LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the InkHammy apps collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the InkHammy app for macOS, the InkHammy app for iOS and the InkHammy keyboard for iOS (together, “InkHammy”), plus this website.
The short version
- The text near your cursor is sent to InkHammy's correction service and to Cerebras, our AI provider, to create suggestions. The correction service does not store submitted text.
- The apps automatically send diagnostics (crash reports, errors, logs and the text involved in a correction) to our own GlitchTip service. We keep them for up to 90 days.
- Passwords, secure text fields and credentials are never collected.
- We don't show ads, we don't use tracking SDKs, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account from inside the app.
What we collect
Account
You sign in with Apple or Google. We store the Apple or Google account identifier, the email address the provider shares with us (with Apple, this can be a private relay address), our own account identifier and hashed sign-in and session credentials.
Subscriptions and billing
We store subscription identifiers, plan, status, renewal and expiry dates, and payment event records. On iPhone, purchases are processed by Apple. On Mac, purchases are processed by Stripe through a secure web checkout. We never receive your full card details.
Usage counters
We count AI requests per account to enforce fair-use limits and prevent abuse.
Technical data
To answer each request, our service processes a request identifier, the selected model, language and correction settings, and your account authorization in memory. Our infrastructure also processes standard records such as IP address, timestamps and response status for security and reliability.
On your device
Your preferences, personal dictionary and settings stay on your device. Your sign-in session is stored in the Keychain on iPhone and Mac.
Your text and how corrections work
- Mac: after you grant Accessibility permission and while you have an active subscription, InkHammy reads the text near your cursor in the app you're typing in and sends it to InkHammy's correction service. InkHammy skips secure text fields such as password fields.
- iPhone keyboard: the keyboard types and offers on-device spelling without Full Access. AI corrections and rewrite actions need Allow Full Access and an active subscription. When they're on, the keyboard sends the text near your cursor to InkHammy's correction service. iOS never gives third-party keyboards access to password and other secure fields.
- iPhone app: text you paste or type into the app is sent to InkHammy's correction service when you ask Hammy to fix it.
The correction service forwards the text to Cerebras, our AI provider, to generate suggestions and sends the result back to your device. AI provider credentials stay on our servers. The correction service does not store submitted text, and its server logs exclude it. Diagnostics are the one exception where text can be kept, described below.
Diagnostics
The InkHammy apps automatically collect diagnostics: crash reports, errors, logs, and the text context involved in a correction, together with app and operating system versions, timestamps, request identifiers, a random installation identifier, account identifiers when signed in, feature usage, and access or failure states. They are sent to our own GlitchTip service so we can diagnose problems and improve reliability.
Diagnostics are part of using InkHammy, and there is no opt-in or opt-out toggle. Passwords, secure fields and credentials are never included. Diagnostics are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted.
How we use data
- To provide corrections, rewrites and translations.
- To run your account, restore purchases on your devices and provide billing support.
- To enforce fair-use limits, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To diagnose crashes and bugs and make InkHammy more reliable.
We don't use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking, and we don't build advertising profiles.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run InkHammy:
- Cerebras, to generate AI suggestions from the text you send.
- Apple and Google, to verify sign-in. Apple also processes App Store purchases.
- Stripe, to process Mac purchases and run the customer portal.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, to run the correction service and store account records.
We operate our own GlitchTip diagnostics service. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep data
- Submitted text: not stored by the correction service.
- Diagnostics: up to 90 days.
- Account and subscription records: while your account exists. After you delete your account, purchase and account-identifier records are kept as needed for payment records, tax obligations and ownership checks.
- On-device data: until you reset InkHammy or remove the app.
Your choices
- Delete your account from the Subscription screen in the InkHammy app. Deletion removes your Apple or Google sign-in link and email and signs out your sessions. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
- Cancel your subscription: on iPhone in Apple's subscription settings, on Mac with Manage subscription in the app (Stripe customer portal).
- Stop sending text: turn off Allow Full Access or remove the keyboard on iPhone, or turn off InkHammy in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility on Mac.
- Sign out or reset InkHammy's settings at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or for deletion by contacting our privacy team.
Children
InkHammy is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.
Security
We use HTTPS for all traffic, keep sessions in the Keychain and keep AI provider credentials on our servers. Read more on our Security page.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. For material changes we'll also let you know in the app or on this website.
